Riders on the Snow
With our first serious dumping of chowdah this weekend, I certainly felt the call of the wild. Fairly certain these surfers on Long Island did too. Photos c/o The New York Times.

Plaidy of the Week: Lark, Vancouver Women’s Boutique
It’s Friday. You know what that means. It’s time for our Plaidy of the Week.
This week, we bring you the plaidies of Lark, a Vancouver boutique who are modeling Alexander Olch’s beautiful alpaca bow tie. Around town, I’ve noticed quite a few women wearing men’s neckties à la Annie Hall, and it’s nice to see how well this young plaidy sports her bow.

The Bow Tie Project: Day Four
After three days wearing a bow tie to work, never having worn a bow tie to work before, people grew suspicious. We had a company-wide meeting at which the bow tie became a central “talking point.” For the rest of the day, the bow tie – not the man – became the center of attention. No one saw me. I’d been replaced by a glittering, gold and navy bow tie. Today’s lesson learned, if you wear a bow tie too many days in a row, and you’re not known for wearing bow ties, it will become the focus.

The Bow Tie Project: Day Three
Had the good fortune of catching Oasis at Madison Square Garden tonight. Great seats, better company. Scribbled the following on the ride home, “Champagne Supernova” still ringing in my ears.
Today’s lesson learned, with the right attitude, rather with the right amount of attitude, a bow tie can be worn to a proper rock ‘n roll concert.

Everything’s Better in Japan
This Japanese commercial, directed by Wes Anderson and starring Brad Pitt, spoofs 1953s Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot, Jacques Tati’s brilliant comedy of manners. A must see.
