Knots and a Cowlick

It’s only Wednesday, but of all the men clad in bow ties I’ve come across since starting this project, no one pulls it off quite as well as style arbiter, Alfalfa.

Do you recommend I have my relatively new but poorly fitting shirts tailored, or should I start over with custom made shirts? I’m a slim guy, and the shirts were made by Brooks Brothers.
    Thanks!

Rob – If your shirts are returnable, depending on how many you’ve purchased, you might return all but one, have that sucker cut up, and treat yourself right by having the fine folks at Brooks Brothers make you a shirt. Sure, it may cost more up front, but with as often as you’ll find yourself wearing a shirt that fits you perfectly, it should more than pay for itself. On the other hand, if the off-the-peg number you held onto and had tailored, pardon the pun, makes the cut as well as the custom jobber, stick with that option. Just steer your tailor clear of darts. Darts, while they give the shirt a nice round shape, will make you look like a woman or a rodeo clown.
